Gene Meyer, president of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce's free membership breakfast set for 7 a.m. Thursday at the DMACC community college campus in Newton.
The free monthly breakfast provides an opportunity for area businesses interested in joining the Chamber an opportunity to meet with current members to learn the value of membership and the business development initiatives under way for the coming year.
The morning program will include a brief business meeting where two new Chamber board members for 2014 will be introduced, programs for the coming year will be highlighted and introductions will be made to new businesses that have recently joined the Chamber.
Meyer, who served as Commissioner of the Iowa Department of Public Safety and served as West Des Moines mayor and on the West Des Moines school board, will speak on regional strategy development and implementation.

Free chamber membership breakfasts will be held on the second Thursday of the month throughout the year.
