The Jasper County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is again partnering with Sugar Grove Vineyard and Gathering Place to host an afternoon musical fundraiser to benefit food pantries throughout Jasper County.
The fundraiser is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Sugar Grove Vineyard, located at 6602 Ginger Ave. west of Newton.
Musical performers include Nick Knudsen, Julie Moss and Headin' Home Quartet.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be distributed to the five food pantries in Jasper County. Funds will go to food pantries at the Newton Salvation Army, Monroe/Prairie City, Colfax/Mingo, Baxter and the Eastern Jasper Christian Food Pantry which serves the communities of Kellogg, Reasnor, Lynnville, Sully and Killduff.
The Jasper County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match the first $1,800 raised. Last year's event raised nearly $5,500 that was distributed to county food pantries. A free will offering will be taken at the event.
Those unable to attend but who would like to contribute may do so by sending checks payable to Jasper County Iowa Chapter of Thrivent to Bill Bennett, 513 S. 3rd Ave. E., Newton, IA 50208.
