The Jasper County Board of Supervisors today approved the recommendations for salary hikes for all county elected officials except themselves.
The Board approved the Jasper County Compensation Board's pay increase recommendations for 5 percent for both the County Attorney and County Sheriff and 4 percent raises for the County Auditor, County Recorder and County Treasurer but rejected the 4 percent increase recommended for their own salaries.
For several years in a row, the Jasper County Board of Supervisors have voted to forego any salary increase for themselves. In addition, the Board voted to eliminate the $2,000 stipend for the chairman of the board last year, a decision that remains in effect following today's vote.
Last year, the Supervisors voted to cut in half the recommendations made by the Comp Board. The board had recommended 4 percent increases for the Attorney and Sheriff and 3 percent for all other elected office holders.
Following are the current salaries of the county elected officials and how the Board of Supervisor's vote today impacts those wages:
- Attorney - $97,867 - $102,756
- Sheriff - $87,920 - $92,316
- Auditor - $62,091 - $64,574
- Recorder - $62,091 - $64,574
- Treasurer - $62.091 - $64,574
- Supervisors - $41,200 - $41,200
