West Des Moines-based Caleris, which operates a call center in the former Maytag headquarters building in Newton, announced Tuesday that it plans to expand into Marshalltown where it expects to hire up to 100 employees.
Caleris provides caller support services for more than 80 clients from its three Iowa call centers - the other two are in Jefferson and Manning. Recent growth in its outsourced customer support services has created the need for increased staffing and the additional call center.
"We chose Marshalltown because of its diverse population, the Central Iowa location and proximity to other centers," said Rick Grewell, Caleris president. "We are looking forward to being part of the Marshalltown community."
Caleris plans to hire 100 inbound customer service and technical support employees at the Marshalltown center over the next six months. The company is seeking English and bi-lingual English-Spanish speaking employees. Starting wages are $11.50 per hour with an average salary of $14.50 an hour.
Job applications can be found here.
The announcement follows action by the Marshalltown City Council on Monday where the city agreed to provide RACOM Properties, owner of the Max Building at 11 E. Church St. where the new call center will locate, with a $95,000 grant to install work stations and a backup generator.
