More than 130 entries are now signed up to participate in the Newton Fourth of July parade on Wednesday.
The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. It will head east from West Fourth Street on First Avenue to East Fourth Street where it will turn north to North Second Avenue before traveling back west on North Second Avenue to the DMACC campus.
Emcees for this year's parade will be located at two locations. Jamie Grout and Sarah Jones of Energy 106.7 FM will be on the north side of the square with Iowa Speedway's Craig Armstrong announcing the entries at First Avenue and Third Street.
Lineup for the parade begins at 7 a.m. Dignitaries, military, and political parties should enter the staging area on West Fourth Street from North Fourth Avenue to line up in front of the Holiday Inn Express. Other entries should take West Eight Street to North Second Avenue and line up in front of the DMACC campus. All entries need to check in upon arrival.
Following the parade, a variety of food, fun and entertainment events will take will be available on the downtown Newton square.
