Iowa's annual sales tax holiday is Friday and Saturday. No sales tax, including local option sales tax, will be collected on any clothing or footwear sales if the sales price is less than $100.
The holiday applies to anything that is intended to be worn. It does not apply to watches, jewelry, sporting equipment, handbags or wallets.
Items that are purchases as "buy one, get one free" or similar promotions cannot be averaged by the number of items to make the total price less than $100. Store coupons and discounts can reduce sales price below $100, but manufacturer coupons cannot.
Businesses open on Aug. 3 and 4 are required to partipate.
