Newton Police Officer Randy Camp presents Nancy Rinehart with a "Travelin' Traffic Ace" mug as the Newton Police Department kicks-off its 16th summer traffic safety campaign. The campaign, this year themed "Safe and Sober," awards area motorists for displaying safe and courteous driving and runs now through Aug. 30. Officers will stop motorists after observing correct use of turn signals, driving the speed limit, wearing their seatbelt, making full stops at stop signs and displaying other safe and courteous driving. The motorist receives a "Travelin' Traffic Ace XVI" travel mug which is refillable with free fountain soda from participating Newton businesses. In addition, four drawings from the four distributions of traffic safety mugs will be held with the winner receiving prizes from several participating Newton businesses.
