The public is invited to attend a discussion on a community-based food plan for Jasper County at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Center for Arts and Artists in Newton, 501 W. 3rd St. N. Organizers of the event, which is an outgrowth of the Healthy Polk 2020 initiative, are holding discussions in communities throughout the central Iowa foodshed on how residents get their food and how the area can meet its goal of all individuals having access to healthy, affordable food. Input is being sought to develop a set of strategies and priorities to achieve that goal throughout the central Iowa area.
