A settlement has been reached in the discrimination lawsuit brought by a Newton woman against her former employer negating the necessity of a civil trial in the matter.
Karen Jaminet agreed to a settlement with Newton Manufacturing over her complaints of sexual discrimination and retaliation, the second settlement she has reached with the company over similar complaints.
Jaminet first filed suit against Newton Manufacturing in 2008 claiming that a male co-worker doing the same job was being paid more even though she had more experience. Following a monetary settlement in that matter, which included an agreement to increase her salary by $5,000 a year, she filed a second suit against the company complaining that the discriminatory practices continued which eventually lead to her termination in July 2010.
Terms of the settlement were not released.
