A settlement has been reached in the discrimination lawsuit brought by a former Newton Manufacturing company employee negating the necessity of the July civil trial previously set in the matter.
Attorneys for Kathy McMahon filed a motion to dimiss the case in Jasper County District Court on Wednesday and stated that the case had "been resolved by agreement of the settling parties."
McMahon filed suit in June 2011 claiming sexual discrimination, unequal pay and retaliation for "testifying truthfully" in the discrimination case brought by Karen Jaminet against the company in late 2008.
Jaminet filed a second lawsuit against the company which also recently settled.
Terms of the settlements were not released.
