The Newton Water Board will meet at noon on Friday in the council chambers at City Hall where they will hold a public hearing on the issuance of $500,000 in water revenue capital loan notes to help finance a variety of projects.
LD Palmer, director of the Newton WaterWorks, said the department plans to use the money to finance a flood mitigation project at the water plant and replace the upflow aerator at the water treatment plant ($175,000), do work on the treatment plant generator's catalytic convertor ($39,000), conduct water main construction projects ($90,000) and replace various pieces of equipment, tools and a vehicle ($59,000). The financing also includes a local share amount of $116,000.
The total capital improvement project budget is $553,827.
