Due to the tremendous support from the entire Jasper County community, the St. Nick's Christmas Club was able to meet its goal of providing for 670 needy children from throughout the county this holiday season.
On Friday, the Christmas Club completed its distribution of toys, clothing and food boxes to the nearly 250 Jasper County families chosen for participation in this year's effort, the most ever in the Club's 20-year history.
"We have a little saying among Club members," said Peter Hussmann, president of the group. "Yes, Jasper County, there is a Santa Claus. And it's YOU!"
Christmas Club members said the undertaking would never have been possible without the tremendous support of the community. From adopting families, to making donations, to assisting with the behind-the-scenes work efforts involved in bringing the project together, Club members offered a heartfelt thanks to the entire Jasper County community.
"I just can't believe how this comes together every year," said Lori Leix, one of the Club's original long-time members. "We are truly blessed to live in a community where people really care about one another and are willing to work tirelessly to ensure these children have a merry Christmas. As we say, it's all about the kids!"
