Newton Independent
The Jasper County Democratic Party caucuses will be held at five locations throughout Jasper County on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Registration will begin at 6 p.m. with the caucuses set for 7 p.m. Locations and precincts included at each site are as follows:
- Newton- Woodrow Wilson School - All Newton precincts
- Colfax - Elementary School - Clear Creek/Poweshiek townships/all Colfax Wards
- Prairie City - Community Building - Washington/Mound Prairie/Palo Alto/Des Moines/Fairview townships
- Kellogg - Firehouse - Mariposa/Hickory Grove/Kellogg/Rock Creek/Buena Vista/Elk Creek/Richland/Lynn Grove townships
- Baxter - Community Building - Independence/Malaka/Sherman/Newton townships
The Democratic Party caucuses will feature a live interactive video with President Barack Obama.
In addition, county convention delegates will be elected, as well as precinct committee chairs. Caucus-goers will also discuss issues and ideas for the County Platform.
