Trinity Industries, Inc., the Dallas, Texas-based parent company of the Newton wind tower plant located in a portion of the former Maytag production plant, recorded net income of $18.4 million in the second quarter ended June 30, compared to a $209 million loss for the same quarter a year ago.
Trinity released its earnings report at the end of trading on Wednesday.
In regard to its business segment located in Newton, the Energy Equipment Group recorded revenue of $115.3 in the second quarter, compared to $134.4 million in the same period in 2009. Operating profit for the quarter was $13.5 million in the second quarter of 2010 compared to $25.2 million the year before.
The order backlog for structural towers stood at approximately $1.1 billion at the end of the second quarter, the same level estimated at the end of the previous quarter.
