A Save Emerson Hough fund-raiser, featuring the 8 Track Band, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 21, at the Newton elementary school.
Proceeds from the dinner, silent auction, bake sale and dance will be used to help pay the legal costs associated with the group's appeal of the Newton School Board's decision to close the building at the end of the current school year.
The poster announcing the event notes that if the school board should rescind its decision to close Emerson Hough prior to the event, funds raised will go toward replacing playground equipment at the school.
