To the Newton Independent:
I hope everyone read the Opinion Page in the Des Moines Register March 14, 2010, "How to get America back on the right track," by Richard Doak.
Mr. Doak stated 60 percent of Americans believe America is off track and 57 percent believe the State is heading the wrong direction. He related that perhaps we the people are similar to people waiting at the station and looking down a lonely, deteriorating set of rails stretching to an empty horizon.
He also said that neither political camp gets it. I agree! In my opinion both political camps are like two pit bulls, their jaws fiercely holding each other to a fight to the death for control and power over our country. We the people are watching these two dogs desperately fight with neither willing to give quarter to the other. Death won't happen, of course, (because) we the people will vote again and the battle will continue for the next generation to suffer.
Mr. Doak's words were, "You can't create sustainable jobs with bribery. Any job that can be bribed into the State will depart just as quickly when someone else offers a higher bribe."
My friends, it was like reading my own words that I have written several different ways over many years. It is no different than you or I trying to bribe people to be our friends. They may snuggle up for a while, but when another offers them more you will be standing there alone with empty pockets.
Try to remember Maytag and Whirlpool like the Texans who screamed, "Remember the Alamo!"
