Letter: Support the Newton Independent

To the Newton Independent:

To my fellow readers,

I enjoy and rely on Peter Hussmann's "Newton Independent" coverage. I also believe strongly in his statement, "Journalism is a Public Good Worth Supporting."

For a long time I have enjoyed reading and posting on his site for free. Then I started thinking, I pay for my Newton and Des Moines papers, plus several other magazines. Why should I not support and contribute to the Independent?

So, from this point on, I will. I hope others will join me in thanking our editor and staff, Peter Hussmann.

Peter, thank you for everything you deliver to our computers and minds.

P.S. If I have a garage sale can I mention it on your site? And if I can, what would be a fair price per word for another ad? I also wonder if our political leaders would be willing to pay a dime or two for campaign space? How many hits do you get on your site per day?
