A fund-raiser will be held next month to raise money for an effort to get 30 Jasper County World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to view the memorials erected in their honor.
Bob Howe will donate proceeds from a beef and pork feed slated for April 16 at the Newton American Legion Post to the Jasper County Honor Flight program. Thirty area veterans, unable to attend past Honor Flight events, are scheduled to be flown to the nation's capital in late May.
The dinner will be held from 5:30 t0 7:30 p.m. with advance tickets selling for $6 and those purchased at the door going for $7. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. A karaoke contest, emceed by Jamie Grout, will follow at 8 p.m.
