Newton-based Madhouse Brewery is set to release its first two offerings of Crazy Good Beer in the coming week, according to information on its Web site.
Six-packs and kegs of its Pastime Pale Ale and American Wheat, produced at the microbrewery located inside the historic Maytag plant buildings near downtown Newton, will be available at specialty beer shops and Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits stores by March 19, the Web site says.
Operated by Mason Groben, the brewery was started with the support of local investors but only after lawmakers passed legislation that overturned a law dating back to the Depression that outlawed individuals from being involved in the production of both wine and beer. Groben is also the winemaker for Jasper Winery.
The DM Register ran an article on the brewery on Saturday.
