Whirlpool Corporation said today its fourth quarter net earnings more than doubled from the period a year before.
In releasing its earnings report, the world's largest appliance maker said fourth quarter net earnings rose to $95 million, or $1.24 a share, from $44 million, or 60 cents a share, in the 2008 fourth quarter.
The results include a $46 million charge tied to a previous legal action, the company said.
Sales rose 13 percent to $4.9 billion.
