The Newton School Board voted last week to use three previously-scheduled days off in this school year's calendar as snow make up days with the last day of school now tentatively scheduled for June 8.
At a special meeting last Tuesday, the board voted to use Feb. 15, March 12 and April 2 as snow make up days. The days had previously been scheduled into the school calendar as planned days out of school.
A professional development day scheduled this coming Friday is still planned to be observed as a day off of school for students.
The Newton Community Education Association agreed to allow the board to make alterations to the master contract to enable the use of the days as snow days.
The district has had seven snow days already this year, with one previously made up. Snow is forecast for Monday and Tuesday making additional alterations to the schedule possible.
