Jasper County Treasurer Doug Bishop said today that he plans to seek re-election to the office this fall.
In announcing his re-election bid, the Baxter Democrat noted several of the innovations he's enacted within his office that have improved customer service and driven revenue growth for the county.
"Over the past four years, we have worked hard to insure that the highest level of customer service has been maintained," Bishop said in his announcement release. "We have moved up to the third highest number of driver's license renewals in county-operated stations in the state. The reorganization of our motor vehicle and driver's license departments has created an average turn-around time of less than 15 minutes."
Bishop noted a host of other changes he's implemented during his first term:
- Streamlined office setup
- On-line tax payments
- On-line and in the office credit/debit/E-check payment system
- Expanded monthly tax payment plan
- Touch screen driver's license testing
- Maintained a high rate of return on investments of county funds
- Moved toward becoming a paperless office
- Computerized tax sale
- Expanded on-line property tax information
- Saturday office hours
"If re-elected, I pledge to continue the same level of service and dedication to the taxpayers of Jasper County," he said. "It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Treasurer. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of Jasper County in the future."
