Two more mechanics liens have been filed against the development company working to open the Prairie Suites motel near the Iowa Speedway by contractors on the project bringing the total to more than $380,000.
Cory Roberts Construction of Bondurant filed a lien in Jasper County District Court on Tuesday claiming $101,465 in outstanding construction charges on the motel project being developed by HNF Development, a local limited liability corporation headed by Dave Fisher and Alan Halferty.
On Wednesday, Hamilton Radiator and Glass of Newton filed a mechanics lien against HNF for $3,973.
Earlier this month, four contractors on the project filed mechanics liens total more than $280,000.
On Tuesday, Halferty and Fisher told the local newspaper that they planned to merge with an Ames-based firm with experience in motel development to secure additional financing on the motel project.
Fisher, who opened the Prairie Gas convenience store adjacent to the motel project two years ago under a separate development arrangement with the City of Newton, announced two weeks ago that he planned to close and sell the operation.
