Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa, announced on Tuesday more than $18 million in earmark funding for Iowa's 3rd Congressional District for projects he says create jobs, invest in local communities and promote programs that help the state's children and families.
"The project funds for the 3rd District in this year's omnibus appropriations bill have the power to stimulate Iowa's economy and to improve the quality of life for its residents," Boswell said in a press release identifying the projects funded. "
Boswell goes on to note that he has secured nearly $50 million for Iowa's 3rd District in 11 of the 12 fiscal year 2010 appropriations bills.
"The responsible application of earmarked funds, which are federal resources designated for local projects of high public purpose, can have widespread benefits for the 3rd District, Iowa and our nation," Boswell said. "I will continue to fight for projects in our state that benefit communities by stimulating the economy, improving public safety and taking care of our families."
