Scott Farver, owner of the Newton True Value store, has put on hold plans to open another store in Decorah due to the slowdown in the national economy.
Farver told the Decorah newspaper this week that remodeling construction on the former Wal-Mart building he purchased continues but that the store's opening is on hold.
"We're still working on the building, but things have slowed down with the economy the way it is," Farver is quoted in the paper. "It's on hold until the economy looks a little better."
Farver is remodeling approximately 25,000 square feet of the building and is looking for tenants for the remainder of the building.
