A spokesperson representing TPI Composites confirmed late Tuesday that the Newton manufacturer of wind turbine blades is hiring again after laying off 80 associates in July.
Spokesperson Marcia Scott said TPI is in the process of bringing additional production workers at its Newton plant, though she did not have information on staffing levels.
Last July, do to economic conditions, the company laid off 80 workers and switched to a five-day production schedule. The layoff brought its Newton workforce to 320.
At that time, however, company officials said they were optimistic that workers would soon return and TPI would remain on track to reach the 500 workers targeted for employment at the Newton plant by mid-2010.
