Dr. Tammy Chance will begin work in late April as Emergency Medical Director at Boone County Hospital, hospital officials there said today.
Dr. Chance's last day at Skiff Medical Center, where she currently serves as chief medical officer, is tomorrow. She publicly announced her departure at last week's hospital trustee board meeting.
Dr. Chance is the fourth top administrator at the city-owned hospital to leave within the last several months. Former administrator Kris Baumgart, CFO Cheryl Ritter and human resources director Gina Garber previously resigned.
In announcing her departure, Dr. Chance said she would continue to be available to continue on with Skiff in a part-time, as-needed basis until the end of May.
Dr. Chance is one of the members of an internal ad hoc committee formed to work on the internal problems that have impacted the hospital's operations in the recent past. Development of the task force was part of a consultant's recommendations after interviewing hospital officials in regard to the internal problems at the facility.
The task force began meeting last week.
